Advertising & Editorial Disclosure Policy
Last updated: 9 May 2026
1. Our covenant
ShiokNest.com accepts paid sponsorships. This page explains, in plain terms, how we label them, what we will and won't do, and how to raise a concern. If you read one page on this site, read this one.
2. How we label sponsored content
- Sponsored articles carry a disclosure strip at the top of the article body — sponsor logo + "Sponsored by [name]" + link to this page. The strip stays permanently, including after the campaign ends.
- Sponsored banners and listings carry an "Advertisement" or "Sponsored" label visible above the creative, not hidden in a tooltip.
- Calculator preset sponsorships display the sponsor's logo + "Advertisement" label + the sponsor's product name. Rate figures, where relevant, are quoted only after click-through on the sponsor's side.
- District sponsorships (agent cards) are clearly labelled "Sponsored" and physically separated from editorial analytics by a visible divider.
3. Editorial independence
- We write sponsored articles ourselves. Sponsors approve facts only, not tone.
- We do not accept pre-written PR releases as sponsored editorial.
- Every sponsored piece cites our URA/HDB transaction data or other authoritative sources in at least three places.
- Related-article and internal-link algorithms are firewalled to prevent injection of sponsored-to-sponsored cross-links.
4. What we will not accept
- Dofollow backlinks in sponsored content. All outbound links in sponsored articles carry
rel="sponsored nofollow". No exceptions. - Rate quotes on our side for mortgage sponsorships. Rate figures appear on the sponsor's post-click page where they carry rate-accuracy liability.
- Misleading or deceptive claims. We verify factual claims against public data before publication.
- More than 1 sponsored article per 20 organic articles published. Scarcity preserves reader trust — and it's also the product.
- Sponsorships from brands whose products we believe are harmful to our audience. At our sole editorial discretion.
5. Regulatory compliance
- MAS (Singapore) — Sponsorships involving financial products observe the Monetary Authority of Singapore's fair-dealing guidelines and Notice FAA-N16 on advertisements.
- CEA (Singapore) — Agent and brokerage sponsorships comply with Council for Estate Agencies advertising rules: CEA registration numbers, agency names, and transaction disclosures are mandatory.
- PDPA (Singapore) — Personal data collected via sponsor-routed lead forms is stored under our Privacy Policy with explicit consent. The named sponsor is disclosed before submission — not a generic "we may share".
- FTC / ASAS — All material connections to advertisers are disclosed per FTC Endorsement Guides and the Singapore Advertising Standards Authority code.
- Google — Sponsored content is indexed per Google's guidelines when clearly disclosed.
rel="sponsored"is applied to outbound sponsor links.
