About Bedok
Bedok is one of Singapore's most populous towns, a sprawling eastern hub known for its vibrant hawker culture, beachfront access at East Coast Park and excellent connectivity along the East-West MRT Line. Its mix of older and newer estates, large retail malls and proximity to Changi make it a perennial favourite for east-side families.
History and development
Once a coastal Malay kampong and plantation district, Bedok was extensively reclaimed and redeveloped from the 1970s onward, with much of today's town built on reclaimed land along the southeastern coast. Successive waves of HDB construction and later BTO projects have layered new estates over the original neighbourhoods, giving Bedok its distinctive blend of vintage and contemporary housing.
